Local author Adam Catlin met with interested patrons in the library this past Saturday evening to discuss his fifth and latest novel, From Among the Dead, and to relate several of his experiences hunting ghosts in south central Kansas.
Catlin’s next book is due to be published in October, appropriately near Halloween, when we hope to have him visit the Haysville Community Library again.
This Saturday at 6:30 pm, the Haysville Community Library will host local author Adam Catlin for a book signing of his fifth novel, From Among the Dead, and for an informal discussion of his writings about ghost hunting and other paranormal experiences.
Catlin, a police dispatcher in Augusta, set the action for From Among the Dead in the Winfield area, where a paranormal investigative group unravels a century-old mystery.
His earlier novels, each taking place in south central Kansas, include Until August, Night Wind, Synchronicity and On A Clear Day You Can See Conway.
Former Sedgwick County Deputy Sheriff, Marshal, Sheriff, Prosecuting Attorney, and Kansas State Attorney General Vern Miller — legendary Kansas lawman — will visit with the public and sign copies of his new biography, authored by Kansan Mike Danford, Vern Miller: Legendary Kansas Lawman.
Join us Saturday from 1 to 3 pm for this very special review of local and state history as we continue to celebrate Kansas’ Sesquicentennial year.
Last night, Channel 12 aired their video Saving Big Bucks With Coupons, featuring the immensely successful coupon class – our second of the season — held in the community room of the Haysville Community Library on January 20th. More than a hundred attendees profited from the two hour program outlining ways to save money by using coupons.
If you missed the class, keep in touch. We’re planning a repeat some time early in the spring.
“Physically he was an unlikely star in any era. Balding, short, afflicted with a lisp and a lined face from drink, Humphrey DeForrest Bogart (1899-1957) has nevertheless proved to be the most enduring of Old Hollywood stars.”
Writing for the Weekly Standard, Ron Capshaw briefly reviews Stefan Kanfer’s new biography Tough Without a Gun: The Life and Extraordinary Afterlife of Humphrey Bogart in An Adult for Our Times.
