Pursuing a New Nonprofit Career

The cumulative evidence says that fewer and fewer Americans follow a single narrow career path during their work lives in the contemporary economy.

If you’re one of the many seeking a second or third career in the nonprofit arena – a retiree, newly unemployed, or just interested in a change — a project of Action Without Borders (a nonprofit which seeks to “connect people, organizations, and resources to help build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives”) may be of assistance to you. That project (Idealist.org) has published The Idealist Guide to Nonprofit Careers for Sector Switchers, a thorough guidebook to anyone contemplating or planning such a change.

You can download the entire 253-page document here. You’ll also find on the Idealist website links and search resources directing you to jobs, volunteer opportunities, organizations, internships, programs and other allied categories.
