US Manufacturing Not Dead

“There is a common theme across the internet: US manufacturing is dead and it’s never coming back. Well, there’s a big problem with that analysis: it’s not true.”

In an excellent blogpost, Hale Stewart destroys what passes for the conventional wisdom about American manufacturing, persuasively demonstrating that productivity increases, not free trade, are responsible for declines in manufacturing employment, even as US manufacturing has continued to climb.
