Titanic Collection

titanic-3

Ninety-seven years ago today, the Titanic sank on her maiden voyage. More than 1,500 perished.

One of the special collections retained by the Haysville Community Library is an array of memorabilia from the Titanic. Once we’re settled into the new library, the Titanic collection is one of several we’ll be able to display more effectively.

That makes this article from today’s BBC News all that much more interesting: the last survivor of the Titanic, rescued as a nine-week old infant, was on the ship with her parents (her mother survived, her father did not) bound for a new life – in Kansas.
